The Veil of the Inn
The whispers began in Realm of the Crown like thin smoke; now the smoke smells of conspiracy. The scheme has many threads but a single knot — and that knot bears a name. On the Chancellery's list stand Petru the Herald, Castellan Ursu, Pantelimon the Gardener, Father Nicodim and Gavril the Farrier; one of these names covers a lie. The hours in question: "at dawn", "after matins", "at noon", "at dusk" and "at vespers". A sharp eye is not enough here — it takes an archivist's patience: fit everything together, then pronounce your verdict.

Locations
The wheel turns day and night. Its noise drowns out any conversation - which is why some are held here.
Sealed crates, thick ledgers, and air that smells of undeclared goods.
Roses trimmed to a line and paths you may walk only by invitation. At night, the hedge has ears.
Slanted desks, ink, and working silence. Here a quill creaks louder than a conscience.
Wine watered down and rumours diluted with nothing. The rooms upstairs ask no questions.
Objects
Heavy as a small anvil. It can light a room or end a conversation.
The stamp that turns any goods into goods "of certified quality." Worth a mine of gold.
Gold set with blue stones. Blessed three times, stolen twice.
Orderly rows of meaningless signs. The ink is costly, the paper costlier, the sender - unknown.
Whoever holds it can seal any decree. Which is why it should not be wandering the kingdom.
Motives
greed
Dorința nesățioasă de avere, care nu se oprește la nimic.
fear of exposure
Moments
When the citadel is barely waking and the guards still doze.
The hour after the morning service, when the abbey empties.
Midday, with bustle in the markets and silence in the alcoves.
When the shadows lengthen and the lanterns are not yet lit.
At the evening service, when the bells drown out any footstep.

- An honest-faced witness saw it plainly: the queen's garden and the guild seal go together.
- Every scout reports the same about the culprit: the culprit was at the Golden Boar inn.
- In the Chancellery's ledger it stands in black and white: Petru the Herald handled the royal seal.
