The Abbey Intrigue
A seal that never lies has been placed, this once, in the service of a lie. Until the hand that pressed the seal is found, every written order stands in doubt. Before you, one by one, will stand Princess Smaranda, Brother Anselm, Mother Evghenia, Captain Vlaicu and Chamberlain Iorgu. Motives abound — jealousy, the inheritance, blackmail, greed and a debt of honour — yet only one moved the guilty hand. The threads were tangled on purpose: investigate, weigh every word, and pronounce your verdict only when the grid leaves no room for doubt.

Locations
Anvils, tongs, and a fire that never goes out. Many small metal things vanish here.
The old kings sleep beneath crested slabs. Now and then, someone disturbs their rest.
Sealed crates, thick ledgers, and air that smells of undeclared goods.
Roses trimmed to a line and paths you may walk only by invitation. At night, the hedge has ears.
Wine watered down and rumours diluted with nothing. The rooms upstairs ask no questions.
Objects
It calls the nuns to prayer. On the night in question, they all say, it rang once too many.
Three padlocks, two rows of straps. Fresh scratches around the hinges, not the locks.
An old weapon, forgotten on the rack. The rust on the blade is newer than it looks.
The stamp that turns any goods into goods "of certified quality." Worth a mine of gold.
A small flask, a wax stopper, a label written with care. Three-quarters empty.
Motives
jealousy
Otrava care mistuie pe cel ce râvnește ce nu-i al lui.
the inheritance
O avere așteptată, pe care numai o moarte o desparte de mână.
blackmail
Un secret ținut ca funia la gât, strâns exact cât trebuie.
greed
Dorința nesățioasă de avere, care nu se oprește la nimic.
a debt of honour
O făgăduială care cântărește mai greu decât viața.
Moments
When the citadel is barely waking and the guards still doze.
The hour after the morning service, when the abbey empties.
Midday, with bustle in the markets and silence in the alcoves.
When the shadows lengthen and the lanterns are not yet lit.
At the evening service, when the bells drown out any footstep.
